Problem
Client in North East had to create a large excavation approx 30m x 13m to a depth of 5 metres in stiff clay to allow construction of a Balancing Tank ( for collection of waste water) but due to neighbouring land and depth of the dig, the client was unable to ‘batter’ back the excavation safely.

Solution
MGF was engaged to produce a temporary works design for a sheet pile cofferdam which would allow safe construction of the Balancing Tank.

Outcome
Interdrive Piling Ltd installed 138nr GU13N piles between 5.5 and 7 metres long to conform with the temporary works design utilising our SG75 Movax and Kobelco 35 Tonne Excavator after pre augering the stiff clay with our 42000 MAX Earth Drill and Auger Flights , to construct the required cofferdam.

Interdrive Piling then excavated approximately 1800m3 of Clay material and stock piled it on site to allow the client to provide ‘muck away’ and Interdrive Piling to install one level of temporary bracing/frames required for the cofferdam, completing works ahead of programme. Upon completion of the cofferdam , our client constructed the Balancing Tank and once instructed, Interdrive Piling returned to site and extracted the 138nr sheet piles, again
returned to site and extracted the 138nr sheet piles, again ahead of programme.
