Problem
Client in South Wales had to install a retaining wall structure to protect the site boundary whilst excavation work was to take place to create a footpath inside the site , which would go round the new building formed on foundation piles ( by others).
The proposed retained height and tough ground conditions were discussed initially by ‘teams meeti ng’ with the site team and ultimately a site visit was undertaken to assess further and discuss how the depth of retention could be reduced to make sheet pile installation feasible.
Solution
The client installed the drainage prior to any sheet piling work s taking place, hence reducing the retained height required for construction of the internal footpath within the site and Interdrive Piling produced a design for a permanent steel sheet pile wall to be approved by our client and the end user.
Outcome
Interdrive Piling Ltd installed 43nr GU21N piles between 4 and 5 metres long to conform with the permanent works design utilising our SG75 Movax and Kobelco 35 Tonne Excavator after pre augering the stiff clay and weak mudstone material with our 42000 MAX Ear th Drill and Auger Flights , to construct the required retaining wall completing works ahead of programme.
Despite having to collaborate with other external subcontractors on site re deliveries and working room as other activities were progressing on site i n limited working room.
